For companies already on 8x8 for telephony, Video Meetings is a natural fit rather than a standalone procurement decision.

The service uses the same global data centre footprint as the 8x8 voice platform, routing media through regional nodes to keep latency manageable for distributed meeting participants. Meeting rooms are persistent — each user has a permanent room URL — which differs from the session-keyed model used by Zoom and Teams. Screen sharing, whiteboarding, and in-meeting chat are handled through the same WebRTC session, meaning a media server degradation can affect all modalities at once.
