Open-source data integration platform with hundreds of pre-built connectors for syncing data between APIs, databases, and warehouses.

What is Airbyte?

Airbyte launched in 2020 with a pragmatic premise: the number of data source and destination combinations that engineering teams need to support in data pipelines grows faster than any single vendor can maintain connectors for, and open-source community contribution is the only sustainable way to keep pace. The company built an open-source ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) platform with a connector development kit that makes adding new source integrations approachable, and by the mid-2020s had grown to over 350 pre-built connectors covering databases, SaaS tools, APIs, and file systems. Airbyte Cloud provides a managed version, while the open-source self-hosted version runs on Kubernetes.

The platform's architecture separates the orchestration layer from the connector execution layer. Each connector runs as an isolated Docker container, which provides fault isolation between sources and makes connector versioning and updates straightforward. Sync operations are scheduled or triggered via API, pulling data from sources and writing to destinations (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, PostgreSQL, and others) incrementally based on configurable cursor fields or CDC (change data capture) for databases. The normalization layer (powered by dbt) transforms raw extracted data into structured schemas in the destination. Airbyte's Terraform provider enables infrastructure-as-code management of connections.

Data pipeline outages have a delayed impact that makes them more insidious than application-layer failures. When Airbyte sync jobs fail, the dashboards and reports built on top of the destination tables don't immediately show errors — they show yesterday's data, or last week's data, appearing to work correctly while becoming progressively stale. Business intelligence teams may not notice until a stakeholder asks why revenue numbers haven't updated. Connector failures for critical sources (Salesforce, Stripe, Postgres production databases) halt the data freshness that downstream analytics depends on. In Airbyte Cloud, orchestration outages prevent syncs from triggering on schedule. For self-hosted deployments, Kubernetes orchestration failures leave sync jobs in a stuck state with unclear recovery paths.

Common Airbyte Problems

Issues users most frequently report when Airbyte is having problems.

1

Login failures

Players are unable to sign in, receiving authentication errors or being stuck on loading screens.

2

Matchmaking problems

Unable to find or join matches, long queue times, or errors when trying to connect to game servers.

3

Disconnections mid-session

Getting unexpectedly kicked from active sessions, losing in-game progress or items.

4

In-game store & purchases

Cannot load the in-game store, complete purchases, or received items are not appearing in inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Airbyte outages and server status.

You can check the live Airbyte server status at outage.gg/services/airbyte. The page shows real-time community-submitted outage reports, an hourly trend chart, and the current health status.

Airbyte can stop working for a number of reasons including scheduled maintenance windows, unexpected server failures, network infrastructure problems, or DDoS attacks. Check the live status page on Outage.gg for the latest community reports to see if others are experiencing the same issue.

Go to outage.gg/services/airbyte and click the "Report an Issue" button. Your report is counted immediately and helps confirm whether a problem is widespread. Reports from multiple users trigger a status change visible to everyone watching the page.
