Cisco's application performance monitoring platform giving enterprises real-time visibility into app health and business impact.

What is AppDynamics?

AppDynamics was founded in 2008 by Jyoti Bansal after he spent years as a software engineer watching production systems fail in ways that existing monitoring tools could not explain. The insight that drove the company was application performance management at the code level — instrumenting applications to trace individual user transactions through every service tier, database call, and external dependency, correlating that trace data with infrastructure metrics to pinpoint exactly where latency originated. Cisco acquired AppDynamics in 2017 for $3.7 billion, just days before its planned IPO, in one of enterprise tech's most dramatic acquisition stories.

AppDynamics serves large enterprises — financial institutions, retailers, healthcare systems, airlines — as the observability layer for their most complex distributed applications. For operations teams at these organizations, AppDynamics is not a nice-to-have dashboard: it is the tool they open first when a production incident starts, because it provides the transaction-level detail that makes root cause identification possible within minutes rather than hours. An AppDynamics outage during a customer-facing incident is therefore compounding — teams lose their primary diagnostic tool at exactly the moment they need it most.

AppDynamics outages typically manifest as the controller UI failing to load application flow maps, real-time metric streams going stale and showing no fresh data points, alert policies ceasing to fire even when monitored thresholds are crossed, the mobile app losing connection to the on-premises or SaaS controller, and agent instrumentation in production applications losing connectivity and stopping data collection. On-premises controller deployments may also experience database replication issues that cause dashboards to reflect stale state.

Outage.gg tracks AppDynamics service status through community-submitted reports. If your flow maps are not loading or alerts have gone silent, check the live status page to confirm whether there is a platform-wide disruption and receive a notification when full observability is restored.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about AppDynamics outages and server status.

You can check the live AppDynamics server status at outage.gg/services/appdynamics. The page shows real-time community-submitted outage reports, an hourly trend chart, and the current health status.

AppDynamics can stop working for a number of reasons including scheduled maintenance windows, unexpected server failures, network infrastructure problems, or DDoS attacks. Check the live status page on Outage.gg for the latest community reports to see if others are experiencing the same issue.

Go to outage.gg/services/appdynamics and click the "Report an Issue" button. Your report is counted immediately and helps confirm whether a problem is widespread. Reports from multiple users trigger a status change visible to everyone watching the page.

Click the "Notify Me" bell button on the AppDynamics status page at outage.gg/services/appdynamics. Create a free account and we will send you an email the moment AppDynamics comes back online — no app download required.

Many services maintain official status pages with planned maintenance notices. Outage.gg aggregates real-time community-reported outages which often surface faster than official channels.
