Arc Raiders
Co-op third-person extraction shooter from Embark Studios where squads of players scavenge resources and fight against robotic enemies.
What is Arc Raiders?
Arc Raiders is Embark Studios' extraction shooter — a third-person co-operative PvPvE game where squads of players infiltrate a world overrun by robotic Arc enemies, scavenge for resources, and attempt to extract before other players or the AI eliminate them. Embark Studios, founded by former DICE leadership and backed by Nexon, previously shipped The Finals and has positioned itself as a multi-title online game developer with a strong emphasis on physics-based destruction and dense environmental detail. Arc Raiders entered early access in 2025 after a long development and closed beta period that built a substantial community.
The extraction shooter genre places unique demands on server infrastructure compared to standard battle royale or session-based multiplayer. Each raid is a live-hosted game world with dynamic AI spawns, shared loot state between all teams on the map, and an extraction timer that defines the session length. The backend must track every player's inventory state — what they brought in, what they found, what was lost on death — and reconcile this with the central inventory server upon extraction or death. Insurance systems and in-raid item protection mechanics require transaction-level reliability from the inventory service to function correctly during server-side failures.
When Arc Raiders has server problems, the extraction loop is where failures are most costly. The matchmaking system accepts solo or squad players into a raid queue and then fails to place them into a live session, returning them to the lobby after a timeout. Players who successfully enter a raid may experience mid-session server disconnections that count the entire inventory loadout as lost, since the server treats an unclean disconnect as a death. Inventory backend failures after a successful extraction produce a particularly frustrating outcome: the extraction cinematic plays normally but the items do not appear in the player's stash. Login to Arc Raiders through the Nexon account system fails when the authentication backend is degraded, blocking all access before the menu is ever reached.
Outage.gg tracks Arc Raiders server status using real-time community reports from PC and console players. If Arc Raiders servers are down, raids are failing to launch, or post-extraction inventory is not updating, the live status page shows current player-reported impact.
