EE was formed in 2012 through the merger of T-Mobile UK and Orange UK, creating Britain's largest mobile network by subscriber count and the first UK carrier to launch 4G LTE service. BT Group acquired EE in 2016, integrating it into its broader fixed and mobile communications portfolio while keeping the EE brand distinct for its consumer mobile offerings. EE now also delivers home broadband service, offering BT's underlying fiber and broadband products under the EE brand, and has positioned itself as a convergent provider that bundles mobile and home broadband for existing customers. The My EE app provides data usage tracking, bill management, plan upgrades, and the ability to add extra data or international roaming boltons. EE's home broadband products use BT's Openreach wholesale network, creating a structural similarity to BT Broadband at the physical layer. EE's Smart Benefits loyalty offering gives customers additional services bundled with their plan, accessed through the My EE app.
