EE
EE is the UK's largest mobile network by coverage, offering 4G and 5G plans alongside home broadband and TV services across Britain.
What is EE?
EE was formed in 2012 through the merger of T-Mobile UK and Orange UK, creating Britain's largest mobile network by subscriber count and the first UK carrier to launch 4G LTE service. BT Group acquired EE in 2016, integrating it into its broader fixed and mobile communications portfolio while keeping the EE brand distinct for its consumer mobile offerings. EE now also delivers home broadband service, offering BT's underlying fiber and broadband products under the EE brand, and has positioned itself as a convergent provider that bundles mobile and home broadband for existing customers. EE's network has consistently ranked among the UK's best for 4G coverage breadth and 5G rollout speed.
EE's mobile infrastructure spans a large portfolio of spectrum across 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2.1 GHz, 3.4 GHz, and other bands supporting 4G LTE and 5G services. The My EE app provides data usage tracking, bill management, plan upgrades, and the ability to add extra data or international roaming boltons. EE's home broadband products use BT's Openreach wholesale network, creating a structural similarity to BT Broadband at the physical layer. EE's Smart Benefits loyalty offering gives customers additional services bundled with their plan, accessed through the My EE app.
EE network disruptions are broad in potential impact given the carrier's subscriber scale. Mobile call failures, missed texts, and data outages affect large numbers of customers in significant incidents. The My EE app returns API errors or authentication failures when backend services are degraded, preventing customers from checking their balance or managing their account. EE broadband faults — which are often Openreach-originated — cause home internet outages in affected premises. In some incidents, EE's Visual Voicemail service fails independently of basic call capability. Business customers on EE's corporate accounts face the same network-layer issues as consumer subscribers when radio or core network components are affected.
Outage.gg tracks EE service status using real-time community reports from customers across the UK. If your EE mobile or broadband is down, calls are failing, or the My EE app is unavailable, the live status page provides current disruption tracking.
