The Epic Games Store and its underlying account infrastructure handle game library management, downloadable content entitlements, cross-play identity, and the in-game item shop for Fortnite and other Epic titles. Epic's backend also powers cross-platform services for dozens of third-party games that use Epic Online Services — a middleware layer that game developers license to handle their own matchmaking, achievements, and friends lists.
