Evergy

Evergy was formed in 2018 through the merger of Great Plains Energy and Westar Energy, creating a single utility serving about 1.7 million customers across Kansas and Missouri. The combined company brought two previously separate customer portal systems into a unified My Evergy account experience — a migration that had its own transitional challenges as customers from the legacy Westar and Great Plains brands were moved to the new platform. Today the My Evergy portal and app support the full range of digital self-service: billing, payment, usage monitoring, and outage reporting across the Kansas and Missouri service territories.

The Evergy outage map covers a service territory that spans Great Plains states prone to severe thunderstorm and tornado activity, particularly during spring and summer. Tornadoes and derechos can knock out power to large geographic areas rapidly, creating sudden concentrated traffic to the outage tracker as customers simultaneously attempt to report and check restoration status. The outage center also supports communication of planned maintenance outages, which customers can look up by address to check whether a scheduled service window affects them.

Evergy portal problems manifest in the ways typical of utility customer platforms. The login flow accepts credentials but then returns an error on the post-authentication redirect, effectively blocking access to the account. Bill payment forms reach the final confirmation step and return a processing error, with no receipt and no clear indication of whether the transaction was captured before the failure. The outage map loads the Kansas and Missouri territory base layer but does not populate the reported incident polygons, creating the misleading appearance of no active outages during storm events. The mobile app can stall on the loading screen and fail to reach the dashboard, requiring a force-close and relaunch.

Outage.gg tracks Evergy portal status with community reports from customers in Kansas and Missouri. If the My Evergy portal is down, the outage map is not loading, or payment processing is failing, the live status page shows current impact from the Evergy customer base.
