GoToMeeting
GoToMeeting is a web conferencing tool by GoTo for hosting video calls, screen-sharing sessions, and webinars with up to 3,000 attendees.
What is GoToMeeting?
GoToMeeting launched in 2004 as one of the earliest web conferencing products to make online meetings genuinely accessible to non-technical business users — before Zoom, before Teams, before Google Meet entered the picture. Originally a Citrix product, it became part of the LogMeIn portfolio (rebranded as GoTo in 2022) alongside GoToWebinar, GoToTraining, and the GoTo Connect business phone system. For many organizations that adopted online meetings in the late 2000s and early 2010s, GoToMeeting was the default platform, embedded in workflows that persisted even as the market fragmented with new entrants.
GoToMeeting's infrastructure uses a distributed server architecture with meeting endpoints across multiple data centers to provide geographic redundancy and reduce latency for participants in different regions. The platform supports browser-based joining (no download required) as well as the dedicated desktop client, iOS, and Android apps. Screen sharing, recording, meeting transcription, and dial-in audio conferencing (PSTN bridge) are core features. For GoTo Connect customers, meetings are integrated with the cloud phone system — the same platform handles video, voice, and messaging under a unified admin console. Salesforce, Slack, and Microsoft 365 integrations allow meeting scheduling from within other productivity tools.
When GoToMeeting experiences an outage, meeting participants attempting to join find the join page failing to load or the client unable to connect to conference servers. Hosts who have already started meetings find participant count stuck while invitees cannot connect. Audio conferencing bridges may continue working (since PSTN connectivity is separate from the internet meeting infrastructure) but this fallback is not always communicated clearly to participants in the moment. Recorded meetings that were in progress may lose recordings or fail to save. GoTo Connect customers using the integrated platform face simultaneous failure of phone and video when backend infrastructure is shared.
Outage.gg monitors GoToMeeting's service health in real time. Check the live status page when meeting join failures occur.
