Marketo
Marketo, now Adobe Marketo Engage, is a marketing automation platform used by B2B enterprises for lead management, email campaigns, and revenue attribution.
What is Marketo?
Marketo was founded in 2006 and became the defining enterprise marketing automation platform of the 2010s, going public in 2013 and being acquired by Adobe for $4.75 billion in 2018. Now part of Adobe Experience Cloud as Adobe Marketo Engage, it remains the platform of choice for B2B marketing teams at large enterprises — managing complex lead nurturing sequences, account-based marketing programmes, webinar integration, scoring models, and CRM synchronisation with Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics. For many enterprise marketing organisations, Marketo is the central nervous system through which every campaign and lead touches.
At that level of criticality, Marketo's reliability has significant business consequences. The platform handles complex multi-step engagement programmes — sometimes spanning months of automated emails, scoring updates, and CRM field writes — that are timed to business events like product launches, trade shows, and fiscal quarters. Adobe's acquisition brought additional scale and integration depth but also added layers of dependency on Adobe Identity Management and the broader Experience Cloud infrastructure, creating new potential failure points.
Marketo outages are among the more disruptive in the marketing technology world because the failures are often non-obvious. Smart Campaigns may appear to be running but silently drop leads without processing them. CRM synchronisation can fall behind, causing stale data in Salesforce while Marketo shows different values. Batch campaigns may show as sent while delivery is actually queued. The Marketo REST API returning errors breaks any programmatic lead submission or data sync that marketing operations teams have built on top of the platform.
Outage.gg tracks Adobe Marketo Engage service status with real-time community reports. If smart campaigns are not triggering, the CRM sync is behind, or the platform is unresponsive, the live status page will show whether it is a known incident.
