Rappi is a Latin American super-app delivering food, groceries, pharmacy items, and cash to users across more than a dozen countries in the region.

What is Rappi?

Rappi launched in 2015 in Bogota with an offer that sounded almost unreasonably ambitious: anything delivered to your door, from any store or restaurant, in under an hour. The company expanded rapidly across Latin America over the following years, building a super-app that eventually combined food delivery, grocery orders, pharmacy runs, cash withdrawals, and even a digital bank under a single platform. By the late 2010s, Rappi had become one of the most valuable private technology companies in Latin America, backed by SoftBank and operating across more than nine countries.

The technical infrastructure supporting Rappi's operations is considerable. The platform must coordinate real-time order management, a gig-economy fleet of couriers, payment processing across multiple currencies and regulatory environments, restaurant and store inventory integrations, and customer-facing apps on both iOS and Android simultaneously. RappiPay, the company's financial services arm, adds another layer of complexity, handling digital wallets, credit products, and card issuance in several markets.

When Rappi has problems, they tend to ripple across the order lifecycle in visible ways. Orders get stuck in a "looking for courier" state indefinitely. Payment processing fails at checkout, sometimes charging the card without confirming the order. The app itself crashes on launch or freezes on the order tracking screen. Courier-side app failures prevent drivers from accepting orders, which creates delays for customers even when the consumer app appears functional. These cascading failures are particularly frustrating because Rappi's promise is time-sensitive by definition.

Outage.gg tracks Rappi platform status with real-time community reports from users across Latin America. If Rappi orders are stuck, the app is crashing, or payments are failing, the live status page shows current impact from the community.
