Remind
Remind is a school communication app that lets teachers send announcements and direct messages to students and parents in a safe, monitored environment.
What is Remind?
Remind was founded in 2011 by brothers Brett and David Kopf to solve a genuinely simple but persistent problem: teachers needed to communicate with parents and students quickly without exchanging personal phone numbers. The platform allows teachers to create class groups and send messages via SMS and app notifications that appear on parent and student phones without either party ever seeing the other's actual number. That privacy-preserving design drove enormous adoption in K-12 schools where teachers were reluctant to give parents their personal cell numbers but needed a way to reach families outside of email.
The platform grew beyond simple messaging into a broader school communications tool, adding class announcement channels, direct messaging, file and photo sharing, scheduling for recurring messages, and translation into over 90 languages — a particularly important feature in districts with large populations of parents for whom English is not a first language. Remind Hub provides school and district administrators with a platform-wide communication layer for announcements that reach all families simultaneously. Integration with student information systems keeps class rosters in sync automatically.
When Remind has problems, the communication channel that many school communities depend on for urgent information goes dark. Teachers attempting to send a class announcement find the message queuing but not delivering — parents receive the notification hours later or not at all. Direct messages between teachers and parents or students fail to show as delivered, leaving both sides uncertain whether the message arrived. The app notification layer stops working, meaning messages sent through the app only reach parents who happen to open the app directly rather than receiving a push notification. SMS delivery fails when the carrier relay is degraded, affecting parents who rely on text rather than the app.
Outage.gg tracks Remind platform status using real-time community reports from teachers, parents, and school administrators. If messages are not delivering, notifications are not arriving, or the app is inaccessible, the live status page shows current impact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Remind outages and server status.
You can check the live Remind server status at outage.gg/services/remind. The page shows real-time community-submitted outage reports, an hourly trend chart, and the current health status.
Remind can stop working for a number of reasons including scheduled maintenance windows, unexpected server failures, network infrastructure problems, or DDoS attacks. Check the live status page on Outage.gg for the latest community reports to see if others are experiencing the same issue.
Go to outage.gg/services/remind and click the "Report an Issue" button. Your report is counted immediately and helps confirm whether a problem is widespread. Reports from multiple users trigger a status change visible to everyone watching the page.
Click the "Notify Me" bell button on the Remind status page at outage.gg/services/remind. Create a free account and we will send you an email the moment Remind comes back online — no app download required.
Many services maintain official status pages with planned maintenance notices. Outage.gg aggregates real-time community-reported outages which often surface faster than official channels.
