Reolink has established itself as one of the leading brands in affordable IP security cameras, offering a range of PoE cameras, WiFi cameras, battery-powered cameras, and NVR systems at price points consistently below competing brands. Founded in 2009 in Hong Kong, the company has focused on direct-to-consumer sales through Amazon and its own website, building strong review profiles through reliable hardware and a feature set that punches above its price tier — 4K resolution, colour night vision, person and vehicle detection, and two-way audio are available across most of the product line. Reolink's target customer is the price-conscious homeowner who wants real security camera capability without a monitoring subscription.

Reolink's product architecture is notably more local-friendly than most consumer camera brands. PoE cameras connected to a Reolink NVR store footage locally on the NVR's hard drive and can be accessed without any cloud involvement — the entire system can run on a local network with no internet connection for recording, local viewing, and motion detection. Cloud features — remote access via the Reolink app, cloud clip storage, and push notifications — require connectivity to Reolink's cloud infrastructure. For WiFi-only cameras without a local NVR, the cloud dependency is higher: cloud storage and remote viewing are the primary access methods, and local recording requires a microSD card installed in the camera.

During Reolink cloud outages, the experience diverges significantly based on the product configuration. NVR-based systems continue recording locally and can be accessed directly on the LAN, but the Reolink app's remote viewing fails when the relay infrastructure is unavailable. WiFi cameras without local storage or NVR backup become difficult to access — the Reolink app shows them as offline and push notifications for motion events stop arriving. Cloud storage features — where short motion clips are uploaded for remote review — stop functioning. Two-way audio via the remote app fails during cloud outages because the audio relay routes through Reolink's servers.

Outage.gg tracks Reolink cloud service status using real-time community reports from Reolink camera and NVR users. If cameras are showing as offline in the Reolink app, notifications have stopped, or remote viewing is not working, the live status page shows whether there is an active Reolink cloud issue.
